Lelenfant is engaging children and young people from all around the world in fun and artistic activities for the second time. In 2024, in various locations in Wrocław from 14.07 to 31.07, nearly eighty young male and female artists will create using a common language they know – the language of art and friendship.

This year’s poster theme is a play on the values of the project. We are playing with form by relying on the collage technique, combining our symbols with the authentic protagonists of the project – the male and female artists of previous editions.

In addition, we highlight the name: Le-len-fant, derived from the French ‘l’enfant’ (child) and the English ‘elefant’ (elephant). It symbolises childhood, strength and openness, encouraging playfulness and cooperation.

Lelenfant is a project that brings together children and young people from all over the world, promoting values such as cooperation, empathy and understanding. Wrocław becomes a place where young artists can discover their talents, develop their passions and make lifelong friends. With Lelenfant, we show that despite cultural, linguistic and social differences, we can all create beautiful and valuable things together. Friendship is not only a relationship between people, but above all a foundation on which we can build a better world. The arena for this change will once again become Wrocław in July.

Hands are an important graphic element in our posters. Four hands, four artists joined in a circle symbolises collectivity. Each participant is equally important and their joint presence creates unity.

The author of this year’s visual identity is Wiktoria Konwent, who has been involved with the project for several years. Her collage uses her hands as the project’s logo and invites people to join in the adventure, connecting all the participants with each other.

In addition to the use of permanent graphic elements, this year’s posters feature artists from previous editions in Georgia, Tanzania, the Czech Republic, Poland and Iran.

It is not without significance that the girl from Iran and the boy from Georgia represent organisations with which we have been associated for several years. It was twelve years ago, in 2012, that the first representatives of Caritas Georgia from Tbilisi came to Wrocław, and in 2013 of the Donya organisation from Tehran. These long-standing relationships create a global map of connections, and Lelenfant proudly uses the slogan ‘a Wrocław project with global reach’. The participant from Poland, on the other hand, represents all the artists from Wrocław, who have joined as a group for several years as hosts of the project.

Games and art play a key role in the method used in the artistic process. This is where children teach children. It is what allows children to make deep, lasting relationships that can change their lives. When children learn from each other, they form bonds that transcend nationalities and cultures. Working together in the arts builds trust and openness, and shows the importance of cooperation and mutual support.
